My Numb Head

I really ought to start up a seperate blog for this or something. But it's such a pain to try and remember etc etc, so I'll keep clogging up this one with in the meantime... I'm such a lazy bastard...

Anyway, the point of all this is to record a new something that's been bugging me lately. Starting about two weeks ago the numbness spread up to my left ear first and then the left side of my head. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to have that bit of your ear just outside the ear hole go numb? It's like there's something constanly poking at you there, but there isn't really. Funny how the absense of feeling can be a feeling of it's own isn't it? The facial numbness is the area around the cheek and down to the jawline, up no higher than the eye really and doesn't reach as far as the nose. Neither it nor the ear are constant, but they do recurr with regularity and stay for goodly lengths of time.

The other associated (?) thing started up, I'd say, last wednesday. Not numbness this time, no, this time it's pain. It's a throbing or more accurately "pulsing" pain that starts up just behind the temple on the left side, and then shoots down and along above my top teeth. Sometimes it goes down into the jaw, but not usually. It comes and goes, but I've had episodes of it pretty much every day since it started, though today it hasn't made it's appearance yet. And no, it's not a migraine. It's nothing like a migraine, and hasn't got any of the associated migraine symptoms. The feeling especially isn't migraine. That is a dull ache, a brain throb. This is more like something just under the surface, and each pulse is like a little stab, an electric shock of a tiny lighting bolt that zaps down the side of my head. I feel like I must glow when it's on. Last night, lying in bed, feeling it pulse, it was like I could feel the skin pulling tight with each pulse.

So there we go, recorded for the ages! My numb head.
